New Album Update.
It's been a few months since my last real update in regards to progress on my fourth studio album, so let's get right to it. I originally thought I'd have the album ready by summer/fall of 2016. Between that last post and now, a lot of my aspirations and goals for the album have changed... To be forward, I want to make this album something worthwhile for both myself and all of you out there listening.
Basically, I've decided this is an extremely important album, for me as an artist, as an individual, and for the future of Backseat Goodbye. So not only am I giving myself more time to make the writing on this album something worthy of such a wait, but I'm also expanding the scope and release itself to some large degrees.
Like I just said, this is going to be an extremely important release for the future of BG. Don't worry, I still have no plans to stop releasing new BG music or anything like that... But as far as the scale and effort of each release, this one will decide at what lengths those future releases will be able to leap from. What I mean by all of this, is that I will be putting a lot of work into the production, release, and promotion of this album. Way more than I ever have. I genuinely want to at least give this album a real chance to be something special.
Anyway, to make all that happen, it's genuinely taking more time to complete the album. As of now, I have my sights set on an official release sometime in early 2017. (I hate that I'm pushing this back again, but I wouldn't do it if it weren't completely necessary for a better album in the end.) Now, that being said, I'll at least be able to make the delay up to you at some point this Fall with some behind-the-scenes stuff and a glimpse or two at some tracks off the album... Hell, maybe I'll even share an extremely rough demo sometime soon.
Until then, I'll be plugging away at this. I promise it'll be worth the wait. I've never put this much work into looking back at all my past work to make sure the new album honors that kid I was, a nobody writing songs in his college apartment, but also lets this 30 year old show you all what the hell he can do now.
I miss you all.
